Plus de 70 % des pays africains ne disposent pas de cadres politiques et r\u00e9glementaires complets en mati\u00e8re de prise en charge alternative. La r\u00e9gion WCNA compte 28 Associations Membres, dont seulement 10 disposent actuellement d\u2019un Conseil d\u2019Administration \u00e9tabli.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00ab <em>La D\u00e9claration de Tunis traduit notre volont\u00e9 commune de consolider la gouvernance de nos Associations, d\u2019accro\u00eetre notre impact et de parler d\u2019une seule voix au sein de la F\u00e9d\u00e9ration \u00bb,<\/em> ont soulign\u00e9 les signataires.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La D\u00e9claration sera officiellement pr\u00e9sent\u00e9e lors de la prochaine class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>SOS Children&#8217;s Villages Member Associations in the West, Central and North Africa (WCNA) region adopt the \u201cTunis Declaration\u201d to strengthen governance and impact.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first Annual Meeting of Board Chairs and National Directors of the 28 SOS Children&#8217;s Villages Member Associations in the West, Central and North Africa (WCNA) region was held in Tunis from 26 to 29 September 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SOS Children&#8217;s Villages, a leading international organization providing care and support for children deprived of parental care, is present in 137 countries and territories worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gathered under the theme \u201cEvery Child Has the Right to a Home,\u201d representatives of the WCNA region unanimously adopted the \u201cTunis Declaration.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This framework document sets out the region\u2019s strategic priorities for the next three years around six key pillars:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Institutional Strengthening: Accelerate the establishment of Boards of Directors in the 18 concerned Member Associations by 2028 and introduce an inter-country mentoring mechanism.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Financial Sustainability: Diversify funding sources and establish a regional working group dedicated to resource mobilization.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Programmatic Effectiveness: Harmonize monitoring and evaluation indicators and strengthen integrated approaches, particularly in the areas of mental health and youth participation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Regional Coordination: Institutionalize this meeting as an annual platform for alignment and coordination and strengthen the role of regional representatives on the International Board.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Monitoring Mechanisms: Establish a WCNA Regional Coordination Group responsible for overseeing implementation and annual reporting on commitments.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Advocacy: Call on the international community to increase its financial and technical support for governance strengthening and child protection across the WCNA region.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This declaration comes at a time of urgency: according to estimates, 35 million children in Africa are deprived of parental care. More than 70% of African countries lack comprehensive policy and regulatory frameworks for alternative care.
